Modern Slavery Statement

Modern Slavery Statement for Man with Van Stratford

This Modern Slavery Statement is made by Man with Van Stratford in respect of our operations and supply chains. It sets out the steps we are taking to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our business and among our suppliers. We recognise that modern slavery is a grave violation of fundamental human rights and we are committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all of our relationships.

Our Business and Supply Chains

Man with Van Stratford is a transport and removals service provider operating in Stratford and surrounding areas. Our activities include local and regional moves, collection and delivery of goods, and related logistical support. Our supply chains primarily comprise vehicle hire and maintenance providers, fuel suppliers, equipment and packaging suppliers, facilities and cleaning services, and certain subcontracted drivers and labour providers during peak demand periods.

We recognise that elements of the transport and logistics sector can be vulnerable to exploitation, particularly in relation to temporary labour and subcontracting. We are therefore committed to implementing proportionate and effective controls to reduce and manage these risks.

Zero-Tolerance Approach to Modern Slavery

We operate a strict zero-tolerance policy to all forms of modern slavery, servitude, forced or compulsory labour, and human trafficking. This applies to every aspect of our activities, including the treatment of our workers, engagement with subcontractors, and relationships with suppliers and other business partners.

All individuals working for or on behalf of Man with Van Stratford, in any capacity, are expected to uphold this policy. We will not knowingly work with any organisation or individual involved in modern slavery or related abuses. Where credible concerns arise, we will take prompt and decisive action, which may include terminating contracts and reporting concerns to relevant authorities where appropriate.

Supplier Standards and Audits

We expect our suppliers and subcontractors to share our commitment to preventing modern slavery and to operate in accordance with all applicable labour, employment, and human rights laws. We are progressively incorporating modern slavery and ethical labour requirements into our supplier selection, onboarding, and contract renewal processes.

Where proportionate to the level of risk, we conduct due diligence and periodic audits on key suppliers and high-risk categories, such as labour providers and subcontracted drivers. This may include requests for information about recruitment practices, right-to-work checks, wage and working time records, and any previous incidents or investigations related to modern slavery. We reserve the right to carry out site visits or request independent assurance where risk indicators are identified.

Training, Awareness, and Reporting Channels

We are committed to raising awareness of modern slavery risks among our management team, employees, and regular subcontractors. Training and guidance are provided on recognising signs of exploitation, understanding our zero-tolerance policy, and using appropriate reporting routes.

All workers engaged by Man with Van Stratford are encouraged to report any suspicion or concern about modern slavery, whether within our operations, among subcontractors, or in our supply chain. Concerns can be raised directly with line management or designated senior managers. Reports can be made confidentially, and we will treat all concerns seriously and sensitively. We will not tolerate any form of victimisation or retaliation against individuals who raise concerns in good faith.

Governance, Accountability, and Response

Overall responsibility for our modern slavery commitments rests with our senior management, who oversee the development and implementation of relevant policies and processes. Operational managers are responsible for ensuring this statement is embedded in day-to-day decision-making, including the engagement of suppliers and subcontractors.

Where an allegation of modern slavery is raised, we will investigate the matter promptly, taking appropriate remedial steps where necessary. This may involve working with the affected individual, reviewing supplier practices, amending internal procedures, and, where justified, ending business relationships and assisting with referrals to competent authorities or specialist support organisations.

Continuous Improvement and Annual Review

We recognise that the risks of modern slavery can change over time and that our approach must evolve in response. We are committed to continuously improving our processes, including risk assessments, due diligence, training, and supplier engagement. Lessons learned from any incidents, audits, or stakeholder feedback will be integrated into our future actions.

This Modern Slavery Statement will be reviewed at least once every year by senior management to ensure it remains accurate, effective, and aligned with legislative requirements and industry good practice. Updates may also be made sooner where there are significant changes to our business model, supply chains, or the regulatory environment. Following each review, we will update this statement as necessary and communicate any material changes to our staff and key suppliers.

Man with Van Stratford is firmly committed to playing its part in the global effort to eradicate modern slavery and human trafficking and to conducting business in a way that respects and protects the dignity and rights of all people.
